Join us!

We are always looking for passionate and talented people to join us!

Check out our open positions and general admission resources below.

Postdoctoral Research Fellows

We have openings for postdoctoral research fellows in our group at the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Positions:

(1) Postdoctoral research fellow in integrated photonics, quantum optics, nonlinear optics, and nanophotonics.

The candidate is expected to work on the following sub-projects:

  • Thin-film lithium niobate integrated photonics

  • On-chip photon-pair and squeezed-light generation

  • On-chip quantum simulation

  • New materials for photonics

(2) Postdoctoral research fellow in superconducting single-photon detectors and microwave circuits.

The candidate is expected to work on the following sub-projects:

  • On-chip single-photon and photon-number-resolving detection

  • Microwave-optical transduction

  • Superconducting microwave parametric amplifiers

Requirements:

  • Ability to work as a team and communicate effectively

  • Experience in nano/micro-fabrications is highly desired

  • Knowledge in nonlinear and/or quantum optics is highly desired

  • Basic lab and programming skills

  • None of the above is hard requirement:) If you believe you're exceptional or can contribute something valuable to the group, please don't hesitate to reach out!

If you're interested, please send your cv (including at least two referee contacts) to Dr. Di Zhu at dizhu@nus.edu.sg

PhD Students

We have multiple openings for PhD students at the National University of Singapore (NUS).

Specifically, we are looking for students interested in the following areas: integrated photonics, nonlinear and quantum optics, nanophotonics, nanofabrication, superconducting single-photon detectors, and superconducting microwave devices. Relevant research experiences are highly valued but not required. As long as you're motivated and passionate, we will train you to become a qualified and capable researcher.

We currently have several Ph.D. scholarship quotas for August 2024 and January 2025 intakes. A GRE is required (an Aggregate of 320 for Verbal and Quantitative Reasoning and 3.5 for Analytical Writing).

Here are some scholarships that you may consider:

If you're interested, please send your cv and transcript (unofficial one is sufficient) to Dr. Di Zhu at dizhu@nus.edu.sg

Visiting Students & Researchers

We are always happy to host visiting students and researchers with relevant research backgrounds. If you're interested, please send your cv, transcript (unofficial one is sufficient), and two referee contacts to Dr. Di Zhu at dizhu@nus.edu.sg

Research Assistant

We have one research assistant (RA) opening. The RA will be (1) helping the PI to manage the research group and (2) involved in various research activities in the group (details can be discussed). If interested, please send your cv to Dr. Di Zhu (dizhu@nus.edu.sg).

Undergraduate and Master's Students

Our group is a big supporter of undergraduate research. I myself first started research in my 2nd year of undergrad and tried different labs in the years after. That exposure proved to be pivotal for my professional career. If you're interested in our research and want an insider experience, come and join us! The same applies to Master's students--if you want to try research, please reach out to us, and we can explore different opportunities. We could also get you attached to other institutes that the PI is associated with (e.g., A*STAR, CQT).

If you're interested, please send your cv to me at dizhu@nus.edu.sg. If you're already an NUS student, you can just knock on my office door and have a chat with me.
